Solitaire - A Classic Puzzle Card Game

♠ Solitaire, also known as Klondike Solitaire and Patience Solitaire, is a solitaire card game in which a standard 52-card deck is placed into a layout based on the Patience game, and the object of the game is to move all cards to the foundations, also known as piles, of suit in ascending numerical order by capturing cards from the tableau (otherwise called the playing field). In Klondike Solitaire, instead of the traditional foundations, the game begins with a single pile to the right of the tableau.

If a game begins with a tableau like 10 -2 -A -K -3 -Q -J -4 -2, then that is the layout for that game. The layout for all possible card combinations at the start of a game are listed in the Rules section below. When you select "Play," the game begins with the first column (or rightmost column) of the layout.

In Klondike Solitaire there are four kinds of cards: the King, the Queen, the Jack, and the Ace. The objective is to move all cards to one of the foundations of suit in ascending numerical order.

The game of Klondike Solitaire is played on a standard playing board of two rows and ten columns. In Klondike Solitaire the game begins with a single pile to the right of the tableau. The tableau must begin with no cards from the same suit in a row, unless two, three, four or five are already there. There is only one way to reach the foundations by capturing cards from the tableau.
